Ten epithets of the Buddha 仏の十号 (1) Thus-come (Skt. tathāgata), one who has come from thusness, ultimate reality, (2) One worthy of offerings (arhat), (3) Perfectly enlightened one (samyak-sambuddha), (4) One having wisdom and practice (vidyā-caraṇa-saṃpanna), (5) Well-gone (sugata), (6) Knower of the world (loka-vid), (7) Unsurpassed one (anuttara), (8) Guide for people (puruṣa-damya-sārathi), (9) Teacher of devas and human beings (śāstā-deva-namuṣyāṇām), and (10) Enlightened World-honored One (buddha-bhagavat).
