sutra called “Praises of the Inconceivable Virtue and Protection by All Buddhas” 称讃不可思議功徳一切諸仏所護念経 An appellation of the Amida Sutra given in the text. All Buddhas in the six quarters repeatedly encourage aspirants to accept the teaching of the sutra. Those who “hear the Name of Amida expounded by the various Buddhas and the name of this sutra” are “protected by all Buddhas” and dwell in the stage of nonretrogression for attaining the highest enlightenment. It may be noted that another Chinese version of the sutra by Hsüan-tsang bears a similar title, the Sutra of the Praise of the Pure Land and Embracement by Buddhas.
