pure lands　浄土 Realms established by Buddhas in accordance with their original aspiration as bodhisattvas. These realms are called “pure lands” because they are free of evil passions. The proper noun, Pure Land, however, usually refers to Amida’s land which is called Sukhāvatī, also known as Land of Peace, Land of Perfect Bliss, and Land of Happiness.
