Mañjuśrī　文殊師利;妙徳 Lit., “excellent virtue”. The bodhisattva who represents the wisdom and enlightenment of all Buddhas, who plays an important role in many Mahayana sutras as a teacher of bodhisattvas. He is the left-hand attendant of Śākyamuni Buddha and is often portrayed mounted on a lion.
