Gold Mountain 金山 Generally refers to Mount Sumeru, symbolic of the greatness of Buddha. In Buddhist cosmology, the world consists of nine gold mountains and eight oceans, and is surrounded by Cakuravāda, the mountain made of iron. Sumeru is located at the center of the world. Sometimes Gold Mountain refers to the mountins surrounding SSumeru. ‘Gold’ here indicates the most genuine and precious one called ‘Jambudvīpa gold.’
