entrusting heart 信心,信楽 The state of relying wholeheartedly on Amida’s saving work. Entrusting heart is a translation of the original term 信心 shinjin, lit., “trusting mind”, and also 信楽 shingyo, lit., “trust and joy” (joyful entrusting). For Shinran, this refers to the absolute state of entrusting oneself to Other Power; that is, the Power of Amida’s Vow which is free of one’s calculative and self-centered thoughts.
