Buddha of Immeasurable Life　無量寿仏 One of the two popular names for Amida Buddha, Amitāyus in Sanskrit. (The other is Buddha of Immeasuralbe Light, Amitābha.) The Buddha with this name appears frequently as the central one in the Larger Sutra and the Contemplation Sutra, but in the Amida Sutra this name is mentioned only once as one of the many Buddhas in the western quarter praising Amida’s virtue.
